Internal Medicine

Intro

Realize the potential for a deeper level of understanding and retention... while learning to love what you read.

The Consult Manual of Internal Medicine serves as an alternative to the current medical wards books, which have evolved as either verbose miniature texts, or quick reference fact listings.

We have endeavored to create a union of the two, via an expanded outline format, allowing for both in-depth learning, as well as quick, concise referencing. The focus being on organ-system based pathophysiology and pharmacology - like no other on the market today. It is geared toward mechanistic understanding rather than memorization, allowing for a deeper level of comprehension and retention... being phenomenal for the wards, as well as the USMLE step and Medical licensing examinations.

Pathophys & pharm unite

by Alex Lee

All the knowledge you need as a med student or resident in Internal Med. Solid coverage. A+

Finally!

by IMres

Written in a very logical, straightforward way, with just the right amount of pathophysiology, allowing for learning rather than memorizing. Sections are divided and subdivided so that you can easily find exactly what you are looking for - if not the entire chapter. The pathophysiology and treatment sections are what separate this handbook from the others I have bought during residency (Ferri, Wash Man., Pocket Med). I was initially skeptical as I already spent way too much money on handbooks, that for the most part never see my hands. However... this one delivers. It is an all-encompassing handbook - by that I mean that for its size, it relates the most information in a very user friendly format. Treatment is in depth - with the entire book being high yield for both the medicine wards and USMLE exams (I wish I had this for my medicine booards). I have never written a review, but this book deserves it. Like one of the other reviewers stated, this is the best available - getting my highest praise and recomendation. Upon becoming a chief resident next year, I will ensure that the entire residency class is aware of it. Yes... I like it that much. Trust me in that so will you. Enjoy.

AWESOME explanation of EVERY single aspect of INTERNAL MED!!! A must HAVE!!

by Brian Chou

This book goes into the pathophys of the bread & butter!!!! It bolds the highyield points and has Side effects of TX to keep in mind!!! THIS book is as far more precise and understandable than any other TEXTBOOK such as harrison's, Washington mannual, and even Robbin's!!!

A review from the heart!!

by NYresident

Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. The chapters devoted to critical care medicine (assisted methods of ventilation & sepsis) are worth the price alone as they break the subjects and the various modalities and treatments down to a very understandable level... better than any other text or review article I have read!! My ICU attending was so impressed, that he asked me to make copies of several chapters for all 3 teams. Copyright issues??? Anyway, this book has a fan in me. Just thought I'd add this to whats already been said.

A Personal Touch

by Grasshopper

I rotated on Dr. Rosen's medicine team during my third year ICU rotation. It was the greatest rotation I ever had. This guy loves medicine. All the medical students and residents tried rotating onto his team because he was so passionate about teaching. He loved to sit with us and simply field questions if we were having a slow day. He was also all over every aspect of each patients care. Definitely meticulous. His book is an awesome compilation of his teachings. It is as though I have him in my coat pocket whenever I need him. I love that. This chubby handbook is everything you need on the wards. Diseases discussed and broken down extremely well, with everything actually being explained rather than simply stated. His method of delivery is to break things down by effects on organ systems. The book also serves as an excellent guide to the treatment of those diseases... being basically a pharmacology text as well. Its an excellent read.
